At the CNIS\u000A Annual General Meeting November 25, 2022 the CNIS Board went global with members elected\u000A from each of Guyana, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya joining the six Canadian members. The Africa,\u000A Caribbean, Canada Committee for Essential Surgical Skills (ACCESS) was re-established in 2022\u000A with well attended virtual meetings that generated excellent interest and ideas. The global trend\u000A continues with planning for the Bethune Round Table Conference in 2024 to be held on the\u000A African continent for the very first time.\u000A In 2022 CNIS was welcomed back to the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center in Moshi, Tanzania\u000A with an ESS course successfully completed after a 9 year absence. The course was facilitated by\u000A Dr. Mary Wells and myself and had strong support and participation from the local surgeons and\u000A from the hospital and University leadership. Partnerships with the World Health Organization and\u000A the Global Surgery Foundation have seen work on WHO Clinical Guidelines (by CNIS CEO Dr.\u000A Ronald Lett) and on digitizing and widening distribution of CNIS courses, respectively. Trauma\u000A Team Training courses continue in Kenya with support from their Ministry of Health and the Royal\u000A College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.\u000A While it is very satisfying to report on these activities, it is also important that we turn our\u000A attention to a refresh of vision, goals, strategy and operations within CNIS. Board sessions are\u000A being planned that will include improving opportunities and consistency for volunteer\u000A involvement. We hope the results of these planning sessions will keep CNIS as a valuable\u000A contributor to Global Surgery that it has been for so many years.\u000A 3 ANNUAL REPORT 2022\u000A
