can learn patience, faithfulness and for-
giveness. We learn to pray for our ene-
mies. And, we experience compassion
towards others who are going through
similar situations.

One time, I asked the Lord why neg-
ative experiences kept coming my way. I
asked Him to show me if it was some-
thing I was doing wrong.

He reminded me that He had “been
betrayed, lied about, lied to, beaten,
experienced loss, unappreciated and not
believed.” Then He said, “Now you are
just like me.” Are you just like Jesus?
“So be truly glad. There is wonderful
joy ahead, even though you must
endure many trials for a little while.
These trials will show that your faith is
genuine. It is being tested as fire tests
and purifies gold—though your faith is
far more precious than mere gold.

So when your faith remains strong
through many trials, it will bring you
