PRECEDING PAGES:
All the photographs on the preceding pages were received from and identified by
members of the families in each section. The photos were either copied at the 1996
reunion or were mailed to me prior to May 1997.
FOLLOWING PAGES:
The photographs that follow have been gathered over the years from various
sources. Some of the people in these photos I know; some I think I know but am not
sure. I wish I knew them all. It is important to me to identify everyone in every photo
that we publish in this and following updates. The day is coming when there will be
no one still around who can recognize the people in these photos.
It is exasperating to look through old photographs my parents saved and not know
who the people are and what part they played in the lives of my folks. As we go along
producing this book, help me with the names of the people in any photo you see.
Earlier I mentioned that history was not a favorite subject for me. That’s not entirely
true. I consider old photographs to be history; the most accurate form of history man
has. Or, at least, it used to be before computer manipulation.
I love old photographs and can look at old photos for hours even if I do not know the
people in them. They all tell a story. Many of you have photographs some of us have
never seen and I urge you all to dig through those old trunks and boxes and find them.
Let us copy all those photographic treasures to share with the rest of the family in
future updates of this book about the FOYs.
The first few pages of photos came from Nan Foy Ellis.
