A Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Safety Professional, Dominic joined British Sugar
in June 2020, having spent the previous 3 years as Head of HSE for Speedibake (ABF Grocery Group) where he was focused
on driving transparency, openness and compliance to lay the foundations of the safety culture.
Before ABF, he worked at Unilever for 19 years, responsible for HSE at the highest hazard site in the group which manufactured deodorant products. Dom rebuilt the process

safety programme and led the transition of the site to upper tier Seveso/COMAH. He also provided maternity cover for the Unilever UK HSE lead, and led Quality on site for 3 years. Before focusing on safety, he worked in engineering projects both at the Leeds site and across Europe.
Dom entered industry through the graduate programme at BNFL where he worked in a variety of roles, including projects and R&D for a flywheel energy storage business. He is also experienced in lean manufacturing -

Outside work, Dom’s focus is on his family (with two boys, aged 13 and 9). Before coronavirus he spent much of his time taking them to fencing competitions (both are regional champions and in the UK top ten in the UK) or football. When he gets some time to himself, he enjoys reading and role playing games, for which he has written several books.
