Gavin first joined the Company in 1988 as a postgraduate student and has since held a number of technical, business development, operational and general management roles within Illovo.

From 2008 he spent three years leading the Australia-based global technology unit of AB Mauri yeast business and re-joined Illovo in December 2010. He was appointed to the Illovo Board as Operations Director in April 2012 and subsequently Managing Director on 1 September 2013.
Gavin holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.

He is married to Michele, has a son Michael and three dogs. When time allows he likes mountain bike riding, reading non-fiction and doing whatever his son wants him to do.
