To make sense of removing such a vast building, demolishing something that has taken a huge amount of re-
sources, materials and energy to construct, there has to be great purpose.

studiofour acknowledge that if we are to use resources to rebuild a new home on the site, the new design has
to harness all opportunity to address the sustainable and ecological issues of the existing house, it has to give
back a significant contribution to the environment, and pay the respect that this unique setting truly deserves.

Our aim is to provide a new architectural solution that is more fitting for the sensitive site, and to provide an im-
mediate and submersive connection with the landscape on all fronts. Our solution will promote and encourage
interaction with both the natural and built environments. In doing so, our strategy is to regenerate and rebuild
the landscape that was there, returning the site to its original natural beauty. The dwelling will be derived from
this landscape…………………it will take its materials from the earth and touch it lightly.
