Boa knot

This beefed-up binding is associated with the British weaver Peter Collingwood, who first

publicized it for himself in 1996, although others later claimed to have known and used the knot
at least 10 years earlier. He employed it to bind the ends of braids that had to be cut off close
alongside the knot itself. It is, as its name implies, related to the constrictor knot (see pages 153–

154).

Lay down two matching loops, the second atop the first (1), and spread them into a coil (2). Turn
the right-hand half of this coil up and away through 180°, or half a circle (3). Insert through the
two halves of the resulting figure-eight layout what ever is to be seized, going under-over-under
(4), and then turn the knot over to work it tight (5).
