Sewage Sludge Production Values
⁄ Wastewater, on average, contains 200 mg/L of bio-degradable solids
⁄ Water chemistry, including pH, salinity, metal content,
etc. will effect sewage sludge quality and impact the production
of Hydrogen Sulfides (H S) and Silioxanes
2
⁄ Sewage Sludge, properly digested, can generated enough methane
rich biogas to have a lower heating value (LHV)
between 5.5 to 6.5 KWh/m (550 to 650 btu/scft) (50–70% CH )

Biogas Production from Sewage Sludge
⁄ 80–150 m of Biogas/ton of sewage sludge
3
⁄ 1.2–2.4 scft of Biogas/lbs of sewage sludge
Rules of Thumb
⁄ 378 liters of wastewater per day per day = 20 liters of biogas per day*
⁄ 100 gallons of wastewater per person per day = 1 scft of biogas per day*
