Tu Hopp was one of the earliest known silver marks within the Chinese Export Silver manufacturing period. It
was a retail silversmith, but it is still unclear whether it was also a manufacturing silversmith. All the early
Chinese silversmiths who used the pseudo-hallmark posed the same problem, since no artisan mark was
included. Items of silver carrying the mark are extremely rare and are always in the neo-classical “Georgian”
            style.
