FIGURE OF THE SOVEREIGN OF THE
CLOUDS OF DAWN
16th/17th century
The Daoist Goddess Bixia Yuanjun cast
seated on a throne, clad in long robes and
the serene face crowned with a three-phoenix
tiara, the hands raised in front of the chest
and holding a ceremonial tablet, the surface
partially embellished with gold lacquer.
