The original etchings were created for the Qianlong Emperor between 1783
and 1786 by the Jesuit missionary to the Chinese court, Giuseppe Castiglione,
also known as Lang Shining. They illustrate the edifces, gardens and palace
grounds constructed from 1737-1766.
Each etching 20 x 34æ in. (50.8 cm. x 88.2 cm.)
