A LARGE FLAMBE-GLAZED
PEAR-SHAPED VASE
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The vase is sturdily potted with a pear-shaped
body rising from the ring foot to a slender neck
and flared mouth rim, covered overall with
a deep violet glaze streaked with lavender-
blue and purplish-red, thinning to a crackled
mushroom colour at the mouth rim. The base is
unglazed revealing the buff body.

Each vase is well potted with a single rib
encircling the neck. The exterior is covered
overall with a finely mottled blue glaze, the
everted rim and interior are glazed white.
