104 | BONHAMS The body of squat truncated form, with a cylindrical
neck flanked by an arched handle and connected
to the curving spout with a scrolled bracket, the
body decorated with two long-tailed phoenix amidst
blossoming lotus and scrolling leafy stems, above
a band of lappets containing a palmette, the neck
with a stylised ruyi collar and bands of blossoming
flowers, keyfret and plantain leaves, the spout with
stylised clouds.

Circa 1500
The pear-shaped body rising from a short foot
ring to a generously rounded body and an elegant
waisted neck, painted with meandering lotus
blossoms and ruyi clouds, all above a border of
lappets containing ruyi-head pendants, the neck
with classic scroll and sprays of lingzhi and bamboo
beneath diaper band and below a band of upright
elongated plantain leaves.

INCENSE BURNER
Circa 1660
The bulbous body rising to an everted rim, boldly
painted on the exterior with two writhing dragons
chasing flaming pearls amidst cloud scrolls, their
tails enclosing a shou medallion enclosed in a large
billowing cloud.
