A CARVED RED LACQUER ‘THREE FRIENDS OF WINTER’
BRUSH AND COVER
LATE MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH-18TH CENTURY
The brush handle and cover are both fnely carved with prunus, pine and
bamboo, ‘The Three Friends of Winter’, with plain borders and a mallow
fower carved at the end of the handle and the end of the cover.

A red lacquer brush of comparable size and carved with a similar design
of ‘The Three Friends of Winter’, but reserved on a diaper ground, is in the
