A VERY RARE YAOZHOU TRIPOD CENSER
NORTHERN SONG-JIN DYNASTY, 12TH-13TH CENTURY
The compressed globular body is raised on three lion’s-paw feet,
and decorated with a band of foliate scroll below a triple-grooved band.
The neck is decorated with a band of upright petals below the everted rim.
The censer is covered overall with a pale greyish-green glaze.

A Yaozhou tripod censer of similar form, but left undecorated around
the body, was sold at Sotheby’s London, 16 May 2018, lot 71.
