AN ARCHAISTIC WHITE JADE POURING VESSEL
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)

清乾隆 白玉童子瑞獸紋四足水注

The exterior of the vessel is decorated with archaistic monster masks, below a key-fret border to the
mouth rim and a pair of small animal-form upright handles. The large handle to one side is carved as a boy
standing on stylised clouds, opposite the spout which is shaped as the head of a mythical beast. The vessel
is raised on four ruyi-shaped feet. The stone is of a pale tone, with some light russet inclusions.
