A RARE UNDERGLAZE COPPER-RED, BLUE AND WHITE THREE-
PART ‘IMMORTALS’ WINE EWER.
QIANLONG/JIAQING PERIOD, CIRCA 1800

清乾隆/嘉慶 青花釉裡紅八仙紋葫蘆壺

The ewer is of double-gourd form with two moulded lion-mask handles to the
lower section. The top section has a C-scroll handle and a upright S-scroll
spout, the cover has a small bud fnial. Both sections are decorated with the
Eight Daoist Immortals, baxian on a ground of crashing waves. The lower
tubular part of the top section is decorated with fve bats amongst cloud
scrolls.
