Height 7 ½ in. (19.1 cm)
seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base, with the right hand held in bhumisparsha mudra, signifying the moment of Buddha's
enlightenment, and the left hand resting elegantly in his lap, the sanghati with an incised border of copper inlay falling in folds over
the left shoulder, the face with serene expression, the head and domed ushnisha covered with tight curls and topped with
a cintamani

The present Buddha bears strong resemblance to another seated Buddha Shakyamuni dated circa 1300, illustrated in U. von
Schroeder, Buddhist Sculptures in Tibet, Vol. 2, Hong Kong, 2001, pls. 322E-F. Compare the inlaid copper hem of the robes, the
styling of the base, and the treatment of the face and hair.
