PAINTINGS IN GILT-WOOD FRAMES
19th century
Each rectangular panel finely painted with
warriors, the first with generals engaging in a
diplomatic meeting outside a grand pavilion,
the second with an interior scene, set in gilt-
wood and black lacquered frames carved in 438
openwork with foliate motifs, with a further
rectangular mirror above the main panel.
Each overall: 110cm (43 1/4in) high (2).
