Built by E. & H.O. Briggs, launched in East Boston on 7 June 1856, and named for one of Salem's wealthiest merchants and ship
owners in the frst half of the 19th century, the clipper is shown of Hong Kong, fying her Curtis & Peabody house fag at the top of
her foremast and a pennant bearing her name on her mainmast.
