ridges resembling a craggy mountain;
fixed on to a wood custom-made stand.

Furuya stones have been appreciated
since the eighteenth century. These calcic
mudstones, embedded in hard mud, were
removed from the earth near Tanabe City,
Wakayama Prefecture, then mechanically
cleaned to bring out their interesting shapes.
