STAND
Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989)
era, early 20th century
The rectangular cabinet fitted with six
drawers of various sizes and two sliding
doors, each drawer front framed in dark
wood and inlaid with tsuba, fuchi-gashira,
menuki, and kozuka, several bearing
signatures Yanagawa Masanobu, Hamano
Noriyuki and others, several of the tsuba
comprising daisho pairs, the drawer pulls
decorated with flowering vines in gold
hirazogan and fitted to back plates from
kanamono taken from tabako ire (tobacco
pouches); set on a tall stand fitted with one
wide drawer decorated to match the cabinet
