TWO OVERLAY GLASS SNUFF BOTTLES
1770-1850
The frst, 1770-1840, is a red-overlay bottle
carved through to the bubble-suffused
ground on one side with a carp emitting
vapor from its mouth as it emerges from
the lower wave border, opposite a pagoda-
like structure on the reverse. The second,
1780-1850, is a green-overlay bottle carved
through to the caramel-tone ground with
a continuous design of a praying mantis on
each main side, each insect perched on a pea
pod amidst scrolling vines.

and jadeite stoppers (2)

A BLUE GLASS FACETED SNUFF BOTTLE
IMPERIAL, PALACE WORKSHOPS, BEIJING, 1720-
1850
The octagonal bottle is carved on the body
with eight long, vertical facets, enclosed
by conforming pentagonal facets on the
shoulder and above the foot.
