Mono no aware, or "the empathy to things", is a concept
that roots from literatures of Heian period that deeply
impacts on the Japanese aesthetics and sense of value.
It is a concept of having wistfulness towards every
small piece of fragment in life, such as a drop of water
or a fallen leaf on the ground, and reminds people of
the impermanence of our surroundings. Such idea is
extensively referenced in Japanese literature and art, and
is well reflected by Suzuki Shota's metal presentation of
nature. The artist remodels the delicacy of nature in stiff
metal materials and captures the momentarily beauty of
living creature.
