Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century
Of rounded rectangular form, bearing an ishime ground,
carved and inlaid with Shoki standing by a stream, while
an oni hides beneath a bridge on the reverse; signed
Minamoto Nagatsune saku.

THREE MENUKI (PAIRED HILT ORNAMENTS)
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th to 19th century
The first of gold and shakudo, each in the form of
two galloping horses; the second of gold and copper,
respectively in the form of a rat burrowing into and
emerging from a daikon; the third of shibuichi, each
formed as a component of a kutsuwa (horse bit);
each pair with a plain wood storage box. (9).
