The design of the present carpet is clearly Pope's, Survey of Persian Art, Oxford, 1938 which
inspired by the 16th and 17th century cloudband shows a closely related prototype, Vol. XIII,
and palmette designs of the Safavid and Mughal pl.1126. (Bennett, 1987, no.5 ).
