A LARGE PARCEL-GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The bodhisattva is finely cast seated in dhyanasana, the right hand raised
before her and the left hand with palm upturned holding the flaming pearl.
The bejewelled deity wears loose robes open at the chest to reveal a necklace,
the hems of the robe are decorated with a floral scroll. The figure has a serene
expression with downcast eyes and the hair is upswept into a top knot below a
crown, long plaits cascading down each shoulder.
