A GILT-LACQUERED BRONZE FIGURE OF SHAKYAMUNI
EARLY MING DYNASTY, 14TH-15TH CENTURY
The figure is shown standing in samabhanga on a lotus base, his right hand
raised in vitarkamudra and his left hand lowered in varadamudra. The body is
covered in long robes with large sleeves decorated with scrolling tendrils. The
stepped base is decorated with lingzhi-shaped clouds and flower heads with
two characters incised to each side.
