AN ARCHAISTIC BRONZE TRIPOD CENSER
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The vessel is decorated to the bulbous sides with taotie masks set against
a leiwen ground, below two curved upright handles and supported on three
animal-form feet. The later wood cover is pierced with a prunus design,
surmounted by a Ming dynasty jade carving of Liu Hai.

MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The exterior of the censer is crisply cast with taotie masks set against a leiwen
ground, above two upright loop handles and supported on three tall legs. One
side of the interior has an archaistic inscription.
