A LARGE KAKIEMON-STYLE VASE
EDO PERIOD, LATE 17 TH CENTURY
the oviform vase with tall, ring neck and
rounded foot, decorated in underglaze blue
with three panels, the first depicting a sennin
beneath rocks beside plantain, the second
with a scholar and attendant beneath a
tree, the third panel with long-tailed birds
among pomegranates, all bordered with a
wave design beneath a band of lappets and
scrolling foliage to the shoulder
