            A PAIR OF BRONZE VASES
            MEIJI PERIOD, LATE 19 TH  CENTURY
            of archaic form of yellowish bronze with
            three legs and three mythical mask handles,
            inlaid in gold, silver and shakudo with bands
            of floral design and lappets, the mythical
            masks with drop handles, gilt band to necks

            The colour of the bronze and the Chinese-
            style inlaid ornament are both typical of the
            work of the Kiryu Kosho Kaisha, a company
            set up after the 1873 Vienna World’s Fair to
            promote the export craft goods.
