Each panel: 47 x 139.5 cm., 18½ x 55 in.
The first screen depicting the Battle of
Ichinotani illustrates the Death of Atsumori
(Atsumori no saigo). The young warrior in the
sea looking back is Taira Atsumori, another
warrior who is following him after Kumagai
Naozane. All the Heike warriors are running
away from their fort to the sea.
The second screen depicting the Battle
of Yashima showcases Yumi nagashi. The
warrior in the middle who is trying to pick
up his arrow is Minamoto Yoshitsune. The
warrior in the ship who is trying to get
Yoshitsune is Taira Moritsugu (Etsu-Jiro-byoe
Moritsugu).
