               Ink and color on silk

               The inscription may be read as:


               乾隆十三年 歲次戊辰 冬十二月望前五日 石樵山人張翎寫於古桂堂
               which may be translated as:
               “Thirteenth year of Qianlong reign, wu chen year [in the cycle] winter, twelfth lunar month, five days
               before the full moon [10th day of the month – corresponding to January 28, 1749], Shiqiao Shanren
               Zhang Ling painted in Gu Gui Tang.”
