           19th/20th century
           Each well hollowed and carved to incorporate
           the inclusions in the design, variously depicting
           a sage fishing, Shoulao and a deer, boys at play
           and birds and peonies, all with stoppers. The
           largest: 6cm (2 3/8in) high (8).

           BOTTLES

           The hornbill bottles carved with archaistic taotie
           masks, with chilong and mask ring handles; and
           two compressed amber bottles, one with mask
           ring handles, stoppers.
           The largest 6.7cm (2.5/8in) high (8).

           BOTTLE AND A WHITE JADE BOTTLE
           20th century
           The first carved to one side with a scholar and
           his attendant, the russet inclusion cleverly used
           to pick out the garments, the reverse with a
           further russet patch with an incised Qianlong
           four-character mark, stopper; the second well
           hollowed, standing on a protruding oval foot   394
           ring, carved from a pale even stone, stopper.

           A RED OVERLAY ‘DRAGON’ SNUFF
           BOTTLE AND A THREE-COLOUR OVERLAY
           ‘COCKEREL’ BOTTLE
           18th/19th century
           The first of slender form, with deep red overlay
           on a snowstorm ground carved on either side
           with a sinuous clambering dragon, flanked by
           mock mask-and-loop handles; the second with
           green, red and blue overlay on a white ground
           depicting a cockerel and its chicks in a garden of
           tall flowers, stopper. The dragon bottle: 7.4cm (2
