wearing a hat with woven trim to the reverse,
and a wrap-around belted tunic, a splash
of green glaze to the left collar, box. 58cm

A PAIR OF POTTERY TILES OF
BODHISATTVAS
Probably 12th Century
Each pottery brick slightly hollowed with an
alcove housing a Bodhisattva, one depicted
standing on a lotus pedestal with right hand
raised, the left hand clasping a vase, the face in
contemplation beneath a high chignon bun with
the hair falling elegantly at the shoulders, the
other figure shown seated, both clad in loose-
fitting robes, blue, red and white pigment visible.
Each 28cm (11in) high. (2).
