finely inlaid with an array of hardstones, ivory and mother-of-
pearl, the cover decorated with a scholar depicted resting on a
double gourd beneath an overhanging tree, the sides scattered
with flowers, leaves and pine cones, all reserved on a reddish-
brown lacquered ground
