24 hours.
Road trip, 1,223 miles to the starting point.
Over half the miles of the entire Mississippi River Run spent just getting there.
A truck loaded with two kayaks
and over 1000lbs of cargo, food gear and necessities for the Trip.
April 30 2016 our deadline to arrive at Lake Itaska Cabins because May 1st 2016 was the launch
day for the Mississippi River Run.
Lori was going to have to drive home alone as her daughter could not come, but she was capable
and the truck rental was a high end luxury truck. I was almost jealous of her driving back it was
so much fun to drive.
For the most part the trip was uneventful as the route google gave us kept us on remote roads
and ability to travel high speed. I did. I was anxious to get there and I loved long distance truck
driving.
Not knowing where we were going or the area it was a comedy of errors trying to get our cabin,
find our cabin, unload the truck into the cabin, leave the cabin and go over to headwaters, drive
around the lake, drive to town trying to find food and really being out of place far from the fa-
miliar in what seemed at times a remote area.
