DISCLAIMER
This book is a true story. It has facts in it that details certain action and reactions by people that
may not want to be seen or known. In every occasion where the interaction was negative or
could be perceived as that, we have left the persons name out of publication.
In each occasion we have sent a letter of intent and copy of segment to the last known location
of people who are portrayed here. They have by communication either offered a “clarification”
in their own words which we have published in a glossary at the end of the book, or they have
declined not to comment.
MANY PERSONAL CONVERSATIONS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS BOOK AS EVE-
RY DAY I SPOKE FOR HOURS WITH PEOPLE WHO OFTEN EXPRESSED INTEREST IN
THE JOURNEY,
but also eventually spoke of personal information we deem to be private.
IT IS NOT MY INTENT TO EMBARRASS ANYONE, BUT COMPLIMENT EVERYONE
This then is my journal of my experiences on the HeadWaters to GulfWaters Mississippi River
Run I went on kayaking solo down the Mississippi River. I loved it, but more than that I grew
attached to the people I met. The “people of the river” overwhelmed me in their generosity, life-
style, and ability to talk. I could live on the Mississippi River just listening to the stories these
people can tell and do to anyone who will listen.
NO ONE BOOK OR ONE SERIES OF BOOKS COULD HOLD ALL I ENCOUNTERED
There are more books and manuscripts being written and in publication than this one journal
and most are being made available in an E-version .
