Now before the throne of grace. 3/6 I would not, if I could, conceal The ills which
only Thou canst heal,
Verse 4 So to the cross, where sinners kneel:
There for me the Saviour stands; Christ crucified, I come! 5/7
Shows His wounds and spreads His hands.
God is love! I know, I feel; Verse 6
Jesus lives, and loves me still. 4/6 Wash me and take away each stain; Let nothing
Verse 5 of my sin remain.
Jesus, answer from above: For cleansing, though it be through pain,
Is not all Thy nature love? Christ Crucified, I come! 6/7
Will you not the wrong forget,
Suffer me to kiss Thy feet? 5/6 Verse 7
To be what Thou wouldst have me be,
Verse 6 Accepted, sanctified in thee,
Pity from your eye let fall; Through what Thy grace shall work in me:
By a look my soul recall; Christ crucified, I come! 7/7

Happy beyond description he who knows,

Stained with the sins which I have wrought The gift unspeakable obtains,
In word and deed and secret thought, And heavenly understanding gains. 2/6
For pardon which Thy blood hath bought:

Wisdom divine ! Who tells the price Of wisdom's
Verse 3 costly merchandise?
Weary of selfishness and pride, False pleasures Wisdom to silver we prefer,
gone, vain hopes denied, Deep in Thy wounds And gold is dross compared to her. 3/6
my shame to hide:

Her hands are filled with length of days,
Verse 4 True riches, and immortal praise,
Thou knowest all my griefs and fears, Riches of Christ, on all bestowed,
Thy grace abused, my misspent years; And honour that descends from God. 4/6
Yet now to Thee for cleansing tears,
Christ Crucified, I come! 4/7 Verse 5
To purest joys she all invites,
Verse 5 Chaste, holy, spiritual delights;
