Adventist Health Castle was part of the story of an O’ahu senior’s recovery from COVID-19. KITV carried the story of the senior who more than two weeks after testing positive for COVID-19,
is on his way to making a full recovery. The 64-year-old Kaneohe man became sick a few days after returning home March 6 from a skiing trip to Whistler, Canada. He first tested negative for the coronavirus, but when a second test came back positive, he checked into Castle’s emergency room and was put on a ventilator 18 hours later.
“Nationwide and worldwide, 70-85%
of everybody who goes on a ventilator does not survive. So, he is a miracle. He is a miracle of faith and hope for our population,” explained Bill’s doctor, Scott Miscovich.
The senior survivor of shared this message with the public.
“This is not the flu, this is not the cold, take it from someone who went on the ventilator. I was actually saying goodbye to my family. Because, the odds are not great. This is not something to play around with. Let’s take it seriously. Let’s make sure the state of Hawaii and anybody that is in need of ICU can get the same level of service that I got,” explained Bill.
He also credited the staff at Castle for their tireless efforts on his road to recovery.
