 The principles underlying our support to vulnerable people include:
Privacy of Clients. The carer recognises the right of clients to be left alone, undisturbed, and free from intrusion and public attention. The client also has a right to privacy regarding both their personal affairs and their belongings.
Confidentiality of Information. carers are contractually forbidden from disclosing confidential information to any third parties unless the client has given permission to do so. Occasions on which such information is disclosed must solely be for the benefit of the client.
Access to Information. Every client has a right to information about the objectives of their care and a detailed explanation of the service being offered.
Discrimination. The carer will not discriminate against clients on the grounds of race, nationality, language, gender, religion and beliefs, age, sex or sexual orientation, or social standing. Ranger Home Care must not discriminate between clients who pay directly for their service and those who do not.
Personal Dignity, Independence, and Individuality. Regardless of the client’s physical constraints or mental infirmity, carers must treat them with dignity and respect. Carers must understand that each client is unique and individual and be treated the same dignity and value as any other person, irrespective of their level of dependency, in order to give them the optimum quality of life.
Fulfilment of Aspirations. clients will be enabled to achieve their potential capacity – physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Individuals will be given support and freedom to realise personal aspirations and abilities in all respects of daily life.
Consultation. clients must be consulted about their daily living arrangements and enabled to discuss any changes to those arrangements. They must be included in all communication that is about them and supported to make their own choices about their future. Our commitment is to find the most cost-effective and efficient way of achieving our client’s aspirations, which will allow them to be independent and free to do what they want.
Personal Choice. clients must be able to exercise their right to personal choice on their lifestyle and opportunities as your job is to ensure that they retain their independence and individuality. You must ensure that clients can participate in decisions regarding the provision, extent, and timing of any care service, and over the withdrawal of any service. For clients with mental incapacities and those who cannot participate in discussions about their care, consideration must still be made to his or her wishes. As you are working in the homes of clients, they will also be able to refuse certain carers if they do not believe that the carer is the correct fit for them.
Review. The client will have a regular review of their individual circumstances at which they have a right to be present. They can also be supported by their carer or advocate
Services Information. The client will be fully informed about the services provided by Ranger Home Care Legal Rights. The client will be fully informed about their legal rights.
Medication. The client will be fully informed about their medication needs and to make decisions about their medical treatment whenever possible. The client should always be supported to seek medication reviews with the General Practitioner if appropriate.
Family and Friends. The client will be supported to maintain continued access to family, friends, facilities, and the community.
Complaints and Protection. All our clients must have access to the complaint procedure as well as the right to be represented by a friend or adviser. Clients must also have the opportunity to think, act and make decisions without reference to another person, or other unreasonable restrictions. Remember, carers have a duty of safeguarding clients, so you must ensure that you are fully trained and competent, as well as able to understand and follow our procedures and protocols.
