Jewish Home Foundation:
Helping to Deliver the Jewish Home’s Mission
The Jewish Home Family touches the lives of hundreds, perhaps thousands of elderly and their families, fulfilling the Jewish Home’s mission to care for, rehabilitate and provide resources and services to ensure meaningful and quality life to seniors in our community.
The Jewish Home Foundation is proud to be the philan- thropic arm which brings the resources and generosity of our committed Jewish community to The Jewish Home Family — directly supplementing the Family’s service agencies’ budgets, and enabling the delivery of exceptional services and senior programming.
The Foundation’s primary goal is, of course, fundraising. Our Annual Giving Program, Boneh Olam, literally “Builders of Our World”, is currently in its 17th year, during which time we have raised an impressive $18.5 MM to supple- ment our operational budgets. In 2019, the program has over 190 participating families, 11 of whom are first timers... 62 new families in the past 3 years! This year, despite the pressures of our Capital fundraising,
18 families have increased their level of giving.
When we say “supplement our operational budgets”, we are speaking of providing those extra funds required beyond day-to-day operations to help enhance our ability to deliver exceptional care. It means providing funding for a three-year program of training staff to transition into the transformational Green House model of care; or providing funding for the conversion of our two facilities to electronic medical records; it also means providing funding for the unfortunate and costly but very necessary security needs, to keep our residents and staff safe;
as well as providing scholarship funding to satisfy the financial needs of seniors living in their own homes and attending our Gallen Day Program — in many cases
delaying nursing home admission for many years and providing care partners with support and respite.
2019 also marked the 25th Anniversary of our Golf, Tennis and Card Outing...this year setting record attendance with close to 300 people participating over the course of the day, and setting new records in both gross and net proceeds. An event that is alive and well, and thriving.
Almost three years ago we launched a $30MM Capital campaign to enable our Jewish Home Family to proceed with a project that will transform the delivery of care to our seniors. Since that time, we have successfully raised close to $20.2 MM from 233 donors. 100% of our board are participating, with 100% of our management staff, as well as families of loved ones who have benefited from the services of the Jewish Home, and local and regional Foundations who realize the importance of this project, and the significance of keeping The Jewish Home Family and the services we deliver state-of-the-art, relevant,
and cutting edge.
The Foundation will continue to strengthen the legacy we have been given, build on our past successes, and adapt to the changing needs and demands of today’s eldercare organizations. In that way, we honor our past, serve our community of the future and assure that The Jewish Home Family is the go-to venue for excellence in elder care services.
