First Russian ship transporting grain leaves port in Berdiansk on June 30. According to Russian state-controlled media, the Russian forces occupying Berdiansk shipped out 7,000 tons of grain, stolen from Ukrainian territories. This is the fist ship to leave the port in Berdiansk since the beginning of full-scale invasion.
Over 20 ships are ready to export grain from Ukraine the government said on June 30. Turkey continues its diplomatic efforts to open corridors for grain export from Ukraine, and there are already about 20 ships in the region ready to carry out this mission, said the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. "We will continue to support telephone diplomacy with Mr. Putin and Mr. Zelenskyy. We have a road map, the implementation of which has started. We will try to launch this corridor as soon as possible. We have about 20 ships in the region ready to export grain from Ukraine. We will continue to provide unloading and delivery of products to third countries," Erdogan said.
In the 2021/2022 marketing year, Ukraine exported 61.52 million tons of grain and oilseeds worth $22.2B. Despite the ongoing war and total Russian Black Sea blockade, Ukraine’s agricultural sector could export almost 62 million tons of grain, announced the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Taras Kachka. According to ministry data, the largest volumes of exported products are:
● sunflower oil - 4.3 million tons, $5.8B
● corn - 23.5 million tons, $5.8B
● wheat - 18.7 million tons, $4.8B
● rapeseed - 2.7 million tons, $1.7B
● barley - 5.7 million tons, $1.3B
Ukraine exported 1.11mn tonnes of grain in the first 22 days of June. That’s a 44% reduction from June 2021 which is directly attributable to the war.
Ukraine is increasing grain exports by 50% every month. To address the global food crisis caused by Russia's seaport blockade, Ukraine is increasing its grain exports across its western borders by 50% every month, announced the Ministry of Infrastructure. The Ministry stated that in the present blockade conditions, they are working daily on reorientating their export logistics to land and away from the sea, particularly to the western borders of Ukraine with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova. Ukraine is rushing to export the previous year's harvest because its grain elevators are still full, and the new crop will start to be harvested in the next two months. The government is attempting to reach the expected average monthly export volume of grains the country had through its seaports.
Ukraine is working on building grain transshipment complexes. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy will offer businesses favorable conditions for the construction of grain transshipment complexes in order to expand land export capacities, announced the Minister of Agrarian Policy, Mykola Solskyi. He added that the coming development will take place near the borders. These companies are developing larger storage to decrease congestion. Also, they
