EU proposes 1 billion euros in immediate support for Ukraine. “The first part of the macro-financial assistance package was announced in May. The EU will keep on providing relief to Ukraine and, in the longer-term, support its reconstruction,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said.
Germany grants Ukraine 1 billion euros. Ukraine’s Finance Ministry announced on July 1 that it received the 1-billion-euro grant promised by Germany on June 25, which will be used to “finance priority social and humanitarian expenditures during martial law.”
Norway to provide 1 billion euros in aid to Ukraine for 2022, 2023. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store made the announcement during his visit to Kyiv on July 1. “I’m here to say that Ukraine’s fight is not only for Ukraine. The World Bank allocates an additional $1.49B to Ukraine. On June 4, the World Bank's Executive Board decided to provide Ukraine with $1.49B in additional funding to pay public and social workers, increasing the total amount of promised support to more than $4B, announced the World Bank’s press service. According to the bank, the allocation of these funds is supported by guarantees from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Lithuania, and Latvia, as well as parallel funding from Italy and contributions from the new multilateral donor trust fund. The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance has said it needs at least $5B a month to sustain the government in the face of the Russian invasion, which has halted much of its economy.
Ukraine will receive a €1B grant from Germany. The Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko, and the Federal Minister of Finance of Germany, Christian Lindner, signed an agreement between the countries' governments to provide Ukraine with €1B in grant funding. “The funds will be directed to the state budget of Ukraine to finance priority social and humanitarian expenditures during martial law," announced the Ministry of Finance. Previously, Ukraine received long-term soft loans from the German government totaling €300M to fund the state budget. According to Marchenko, this grant will significantly contribute to Ukraine’s support Ukraine.
