Russia's proxy in occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia Oblast says staged 'referendum' postponed indefinitely. Ukraine has made another step toward joining the EU. The Ukrainian Parliament adopted one of the crucial European integration laws to bring anti money laundering legislation into line with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards. According to Parliament member Yaroslav Zhelezniak, the council completed one of the criteria that Ukraine needs to fulfill in order to start negotiations on joining the EU. The draft law is aimed at simplifying the submission of information regarding the ultimate beneficial owners and ownership structure by legal entities; The process by which this information is entered in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs, and Public Organisations would be made more efficient. The document also speeds up the verification of submitted information, creating a system of methodological assistance to legal entities in determining the ultimate beneficial owners and ownership structure.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Denys Shmyhal met in Berlin on September 4 to discuss the reconstruction process, Ukraine Business News reported. Scholz will host a reconstruction conference in a similar vein to the Switzerland conference in July. They also discussed a new macro-finance program with the EU for 2023 and a new program with the IMF. Scholz emphasised to Shmyhal that Kyiv’s reforms in the rule of law and the judicial system are key in order to receive reconstruction investment.
Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused direct damages worth over $114bn. According to the KSE, the total cost of damages to infrastructure has reached $114.5bn, requiring at least $197.8bn for the recovery KSE said on September 8.
Pentagon: New $675mn aid package to include 105 mm howitzers, 36,000 shells, munition for HIMARS.
