A new well with a potential for 120,000 cubic metres of gas per day was launched in Ukraine. Naftogaz-Ukraine launched a new exploratory well in the Kharkiv Region with the possibility of producing at least 120,000 cubic metres of gas per day. As the company reported, specialists discovered a significant gas deposit at a depth of more than 6,000 metres. The well’s drilling location was determined based on the results of 3D seismic surveys. Yury Vitrenko, the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz, noted that the geological and geophysical information indicates the prospect for the industrial development of the new deposit. The company added that Ukrgazvydobuvannya continues to produce gas at all its facilities, except those near the front line.

The war has boosted the demand for electric cars in Ukraine. In the second quarter of the year, Ukrainians were actively searching for electric vehicles, as evidenced by a 145% increase in the evident intention to buy compared to the first quarter, as shown in a report by Olshansky and Partners. The online demand for electric cars with the expressed intention to buy in the second quarter of 2022 increased by 145% compared to the first quarter and amounted to a record 384,000 requests. For comparison, in the first quarter of 2022, residents of Ukraine searched for electric cars intending to buy them 157,000 times. In general, in 2020, the demand for electric vehicles in Ukraine reached 835,000 requests, in 2021, 986,000 requests (+18.1%), and in the first half of 2022, it reached 541,000 requests.
Ukraine’s new car sales have started recovering. According to Ukravtoprom, in September, Ukrainians registered 3,400 new cars, which is 16% more than in August. However, compared to September 2021, the sale of new vehicles decreased by 2.8 times. Toyota remains the market leader: 673 new cars from the brand were registered in Ukraine last month. Skoda took second place with 312 vehicles sold, 94% more than the August figure and 20% less than in September last year. Hyundai is in third place with 265 registrations, 54% more than in August and down 38% from September 2021. Also among the top five is BMW, with 250 registrations, which is 27% more than in August and only 1% less than in September 2021. In total, in the nine full months of the year, Ukrainians purchased and registered 27,800 new cars, which is 63% less than in the same period last year.
