Russian e-retailer Ozon prepares a major warehouse deal
Romania to launch commercial 5G services in larger cities in 2020
Russian e-commerce major Ozon is negotiating the lease of about 50,000 square metres in PNK Group’s PNK Koledino Parc ware- house complex in the Moscow region, Vedomosti daily reported on November 20 citing unnamed consultants involved in the deal. The deal could be among the top three largest in the segment this year.
Online and e-commerce players could support the commercial real estate market that so far in 2018 has notably declined, according to recent market studies.
Ozon plans to boost its storage capacity 2.5-fold or by 120,000 square metres in 2019, out of which new properties in the Moscow region will account for 90,000 square metres.
5G technology will be commercially available in several major Romanian cities in 2020 under the revised National Strategy for 5G technology implementation, unveiled by the market regulator AN- COM on November 21.
However, tens of thousands of new antennas need to be installed for the 5G technology to be rolled out, and this is impossible at the current level of bureaucracy, representatives of the major telecom operators in Romania concluded on November 21 at an event dedi- cated to the launch of the strategy.
The investment in the new 5G technology will have a high multi- plier effect, adding a total of €4.7bn (2.3%) to the GDP and 250,000 workplaces to the economy, ANCOM head Sorin Grindeanu stated quoting European Commission estimates.
Iran’s National Cyberspace Centre has warned two messaging apps called Hotgram and Telegram Talaei (Golden Telegram) — used as substitutes for the banned and blocked Telegram Messenger — that they must relocate their servers to Iran, the Tabnak news website reported on November 19.
Russian-developed Telegram was the number one messaging application in Iran, but in April the country’s judiciary blocked
it citing fears that it was being used to mobilise people against the ruling establishment. Since it was blocked, several third- party apps, which plug into Telegram software via an open source programming platform, have quietly grown in popularity among Iranians.
