Fast food chain Vkusno i tochka, the former Russian business of McDonald’s, will enter the market of Belarus by signing a franchisee agreement with KSB Victory Restaurants that manages 25 McDonald’s locations in Belarus, the company said in a statement on November 11. “Vkusno i tochka company is finishing the procedure of transferring the exclusive rights under a franchisee agreement with Belarusian fast food chain managed by KSB Victory Restaurants. Until the transfer is completed, the chain will continue operations under the McDonald’s brand on the Belarusian market,” the company said. “The company will begin working under the new brand within a few weeks after all the necessary legal procedures are finished and organizational issues are solved,” it added.
The buyer of the Russian KFC business will keep the menu, renaming only four items, and bring back the Rostic’s brand. “It will belong to a Russian company. We have reached an agreement that we will keep the full menu and only four items will be renamed in it - the dishes themselves, tastes and quality, which were the components of our brand, will stay as is," businessman Konstantin Kotov said. He added that for some time, the two brands will co-exist - KFC and Rostic’s. Previously, the American company Yum! Brands announced the conclusion of an agreement for the sale of the Russian division of KFC to a local franchise operator - the Smart Service company, which is part of the Food Service Group. The co-owners of Food Service are Konstantin Kotov and Andrey Oskolkov. In total, there are about 1,100 KFC restaurants in Russia. Yam Restaurants Russia LLC, a Yum! Brands division, manages about 70 KFC outlets in the country. In early March, Yum! Brands announced the suspension of the work of KFC restaurants in Russia.
UK retailer Marks & Spencer is selling its stock in Russia and will close stores before January, employees told PRIME on November 7. "The stores will be closed before New Year, we don't know the date, but no later than that," an employee of a Moscow store said. A different official confirmed the information, adding that the retailer has made no supplies of new products. The retailer suspended imports of its products to Russia on March 4 and announced quitting the market at the end of May.
