Ukraine plans record electricity exports to 5 countries. Ukraine plans to export a record 13 gigawatt hours of electricity to other countries on March 4, namely to Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Moldova, Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned energy operator, announced.

Wind power plants, except for one with Chinese investors, have sold electricity on the free market since October 2023, renouncing the intermediary services of the state-owned enterprise, Guaranteed Buyer, said the head of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, Andrii Konechenkov. The primary reason for abandoning the services of the Guaranteed Buyer is its debt to green energy producers for electricity purchases.
The government allows the export of green electricity to the EU. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a resolution enabling the state enterprise Guaranteed Buyer to sell electricity purchased from producers utilizing renewable energy sources (RES) not only on the domestic market but also on the European market. It is noted that this will increase the efficiency of implementing the green electricity transition, reduce offloading by RES producers in surplus conditions, and improve the Guaranteed Buyer’s ability to make settlements with investors. "Since the beginning of the Great War, the enemy has occupied, damaged, or destroyed about 50% of our energy infrastructure, including RES. At the same time, in two years, we managed to add more than 600 MW of RES capacity to the energy system, which is important for balancing the system and, at the same time, an indicator that we have chosen correctly and are on the way to the development of clean energy,” said Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko.
