VK, a Russian internet company, has acquired the remaining 75% of Uchi.ru, an online platform for school children, for 8.7bn rubles. This move will consolidate VK's ownership of Uchi.ru to 100%, according to a statement released by the company on Monday. In the statement, VK's Senior Vice-President of Investment and Business Development, Alexander Ayvazov, emphasised that education is one of the company's key business lines. VK's platforms provide opportunities for people of all ages to acquire new skills and knowledge relevant to their careers, with a particular focus on schoolchildren and college students. Ayvazov also noted that the consolidation of Uchi.ru would open up additional opportunities for the development of VK's EdTech business segment. The acquisition will strengthen VK's foothold in the extracurricular education segment for schoolchildren, the company added.
● Ozon
Ozon, a prominent online marketplace in Russia, is set to build a large distribution and storage centre in the Southern Urals city of Orenburg, with an initial investment of RUB3.5bn, the Governor of the region, Denis Pasler said on Telegram on February 16. According to Pasler, the business opportunities created in the Orenburg Region are attracting new investors, with Ozon being one of the largest Russian marketplaces to confirm its intention to build the largest distribution and storage centre in the region. The centre will cover 65,000 square metres in its initial stage, with an additional 43,000 square metres to be added later. The construction of the centre is set to create
